NOAH's position on the timing of CCS
NOAH believes that CCS should be skipped altogether because CCS is not able to deliver the reductions we need - and certainly not in the short term.
CCS will not be ready for commercial use until 2020. And it will not be able to deliver much until 2030 which is too late in relation to the rapid reductions needed if we are to keep the rise in global temperature below 2 degrees.
There is a risk - both in the short and the long term - that CCS will suck up billions of Euros and dollars that could otherwise have been used on renewable energy and investments in energy savings that would provide CO2 reductions here and now.
